Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
