Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Has Died in a California Car Crash

The visionary game developer, who helped create the globally famous franchise Call of Duty, has passed away in a vehicle crash in the state of California at the age of 55.

Zampella's death was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The influential game designer died after his automobile collided and caught fire on a freeway in LA on Sunday morning, as reported by.

"This is an unimaginable loss, and our deepest sympathies go to Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and everyone impacted by his work," an official with Electronic Arts said.
